A few weeks ago, we found Domination Chassis‘ founder hard at work on the vintage 911 Porsche. (Many thanks go out to the Porsche’s owner for flying the Domination flag with some custom stickers!). For any of you that have tried on the mask and held a tig rod in your glove, you know that welding is a fine art. We snapped a few candids of Jay in precarious positions as he put some pristine touches on the 911′s roll cage. More photos to come…

Porsche 911E: Race Ready!

This beauty came to us in need of a roll cage and fuel cell mount for weekend racing. The ’71 911 E, with its self-supporting bodywork, front independent suspension on transverse links and damper struts, longitudinal torsion bars, rear independent suspension on lateral links and transverse torsion bars, make it a classic choice for weekend SCCA racers across the country.

‘”They’ve got faster, all three of them”, promised an English Porsche brochure showing the 911 models (911 S, 911 T and 911E of 1970). In fact a capacity increase from two to 2.2 litres had increased the performance of the engines in the 911 T, E and S models, but the torque gain was predominantly responsible for increased thrust at the lower speeds.’ -Porsche.com

We installed a custom roll cage and fuel cell mounts and brackets, but not prior to removing the interior dash and seats to make sure they stayed clean while we enhanced the 911′s safety features. Scroll down for more photos of the project, and see even more on our main site, Domination Chassis.

By converting from a 4-link suspension to a three-link design, your vehicle will have increased traction, exhibit overall stability improvement, and be 100% assured when you hammer on the accelerator out of a corner.
In the stock four-link design, the rear suspension’s upper control arms are trying to do two jobs at once. Maximum Motorsport’s Torque-arm suspension system separates the functions of the suspension components—each component now only has 1 job, and is designed to perform that one function with no compromises. The MM torque arm controls axle rotation beautifully. The MM torque arm suspension system also allows for complete removal of the rear upper control arms and quad shocks. The resulting three-link design will articulate freely; even during extreme cornering, acceleration and braking.

We started this blog off with some pics and description of the projects we had at the shop, but not much about what we do and why you should get excited.

Well, without any more delay:

Domination Chassis has been in Carnegie since 2003. Humble beginnings included a shop with no heat, insulation or bathroom. After a few years of some hard work and a minor setback (2005 Hurricane Ivan), we have evolved into a full-fledged performance and fabrication shop. Now utlizing two 10,000 lb lifts, tire mounting/balancing machines and two (2) bathrooms, we have everything needed to make your dreams come true.

Domination Chassis was established by ASE master technician Jay Cooper. With an engineering background and a love for cold metal, hot rods, and sleek aerodynamics, Cooper has built up the premiere performance and fabrication shop in the Greater Pittsburgh Area. Our Domination staff has become the area’s most skilled and professional specialty automotive service providers, and we pride ourselves on our diverse welding and fabrication capabilities. Finishing the TDI Golf

Well it looks like the light at the end of the tunnel is finally coming into view. We are finishing up the details on the noSPARK Rally TDI Golf. Fuel lines and pump have been run, the SCCA approved FuelSafe cell is in and the frame for it is built, the skid plate has been made and everything is undercoated.

This car will be ready for the Sandblast Rally in South Carolina on Feb. 6th. So if you’re going to be there, be sure to check it out!

More noSPARK Golf

Work is progressing very well on the noSPARK Rally TDI Golf. We have finish welded everything into place and set the ride height on the rear suspension. We made a cover for where the spare tire well once was and will be doing some seam sealer this afternoon. There are pictures coming once I get them edited.
